MAL025 - It-Tellerit
Description
It-Tellerit is an artificially constructed pond, located in northern Malta, within Ir-Rabat. The pond’s border is made of limestone blocks, and covers an approximate area of 1,100m2. The pond is accessible through a surfaced road nearby. The pond is predominantly surrounded by agricultural land, however, there was no indication that it was being used for the irrigation of these fields. The border of the pond is dominated by Arundo donax, however, some opportunistic species such as Asphodelus aestivus, Ferula communis and Oxalis pes-caprae were present. Some riparian/wetland species such as Rumex conglomeratus and Arum italicum were noted. Trees included Eucalpytus sp., Olea europaea, and Prunus dulcis. Opuntia ficus-indica is also present. The site is Chadwick Lakes and part of Mdina Area of High Landscape Value.
