MAL027 - Ta' Qali 1

Description

Ta’ Qali is an elevated artificially constructed reservoir, intended for irrigation and water storage, located in central Malta within the Ta’ Qali National Park. The reservoir is constructed out of cement, while the borders have been constructed from limestone and covers an approximate area of 1,500m2. The site lies adjacent to an active surfaced road, however, it is locked and gated behind a fence on private property. The southern side of the reservoir is surrounded by agricultural land (mainly vineyards), whilst the northern side is occupied by abandoned buildings. There was no vegetation present within the reservoir and basin. There is no data present regarding wildlife. The reservoir receives water from the Chadwick Lakes system. The site falls within the Ta’ Qali Recreation Area and the Ta’ Qali Action Plan Area.
