MAL054 - Triq Garibaldi 1

Description

Triq Garibaldi is an artificially constructed reservoir, intended for irrigation and water storage, located in southern Malta within Il-Marsa. The reservoir is constructed out of limestone blocks and cement, and covers an approximate area of 1,060m2. The site is not accessible to the public as it is behind a locked gate. The reservoir is mainly surrounded by agricultural land, with pipelines scattered throughout from the reservoir, indicating that it is being used for irrigation purposes. A large population of the invasive alien Ricinus communis was present towards the north and south of the basin, whilst the eastern and western basins were occupied by Olea europaea. The site is located in an agricultural pocket.
