MAL067 - Ta' Kalc 2

Description

Ta' Kalċ is an artificially constructed reservoir, intended for irrigation and water storage, located in western Malta within Dingli. The reservoir has been constructed out of cement and covers an area of 1,420m2. The site is accessible by a dirt road, however, it is located on privately-owned property. The reservoir lies adjacent to a residential household within an agricultural area. Due to the site being surrounded by active and inactive agricultural land, the reservoir is likely to be used for irrigation of these fields. Ceratonia siliqua and Arundo donax were noted growing around the reservoir. The site is not protected by any legislation, however, it borders the Coastal Cliffs Area of Ecological importance, Area of High Landscape Value and Special Area of Conservation – International Importance.
