GOZ023 - It-Taflija

It-Taflija is a semi-artificially constructed reservoir, intended for irrigation and water storage, located in central Gozo within proximity to Rabat. The excavated pit appears to be natural, however, the border of the reservoir has been partially extended by limestone walls. The site is accessible through a dirt road although it should be noted that it is located on privately-owned property. The reservoir covers an area of approximately 2,270m2. Since the site is predominantly surrounded by agricultural land, the reservoir is likely to be used for the irrigation of these fields. No important community habitats were noted around the reservoir. The site is located in a Strategic Open Gap.
